Özkan is a graduate of Ankara University's School of Language and History – Geography.[1] She made her cinematic debut with her role as Melisa in 2006 movie Evi: Bir Kış Masalı. After appearing in various TV series such as Gözyaşı Çetesi, Kara İnci, Güldünya, Anneler ile Kızları, Hayatımın Rolü and Not Defteri, her main breakthrough came in 2009 with Hanımın Çiftliği, in which she portrayed the character of Halide.[2] She has continued her career in television with leading roles in Paramparça (2014–17) and Hekimoğlu (an adaptation of American series House).[3]

She's married to fellow actor Ertan Saban, with whom she has a daughter.[4]
