Evi Edna Ogholi

Evi was born on 6 July 1970 in Isoko, Delta State (then Midwest Region) to the household of Reverend R. O. Ogholirly. She married her producer and manager Emma Ogosi, the marriage was blessed with two children: Dumebi Odezi Ogosi and Adora Onome Ogosi. The couple later separated and Ogholi is living in Paris.[2]

Evi released her debut album My Kind of Music in 1987. Emma Ogosi was her manager and producer. Her popular hits are "Happy Birthday" "Oghene Me" and "Look Before You Cross".[3][2] After a long vacation from the music scene Evi Edna Ogholi unveiled her plans to resume to entertain her fans, during her interview with BBC Pidgin and Splash 105.5 FM Ibadan.

In 2020, she was honored and endorsed as the brand Ambassador of Hope and Peace to Aid People Change Nigeria Charity and Orphanage Organisation in Nigeria and Ireland to host Nigeria and Ireland largest humanitarian 12th edition award event.[4][5][2]

Evi Edna Ogholi earned the recognition Queen of Nigeria reggae[6][7] firstly from a Nigerian reggae music legend blessed memory of Majek Fashek to later be known globally with her act. She told BBC Pidgin during her interview that her reggae wristband was a gift from Majek Fashek to her, after they finished recording with their band in a studio section in Lagos . She was later known for other names like, the Africa's Queen Of Reggae, a nick she earned from fans in west Africa, after she released three albums that went Platinum album.[8][2]

Evi Edna Ogholi was sponsored and endorsed by Pepsi in the 1980's[9][2]

Evi Edna Ogholi vaccated from the music scene in Nigeria in 1990, she left for France to start volunteering for Unicef, a non-profit activity which took her almost nineteen years of her precious time, which was unbearable to her fans worldwide as they could not hear new album releases from Evi, rumor speculated on instagram Facebook and other popular blogs that the music legend had passed on. In 2020, the CEO of Enorecords LLC unveiled the continuous existence of Evi Edna Ogholi, the rumor fuelled Nigerian national news agents to contact her for a press release.[10][2]

In 2020, Obaland Magazine published the breaking news of Evi Edna Ogholi's signing a five-year record deal[11][2] with Enorecords, Evi finally confirmed the million dollar record deal with Enorecords, owned by a Nigeria reggae star Winning Jah, during her interview with BBC Pidgin and Splash 105.5 FM Ibadan. Shortly with the indie record label in August 2020, she released an EP under the imprint, titled Peace and Love, the EP contained a remix of her most popular song "Happy Birthday" the EP was produced mix and mastered by a Nigerian multiple award winner, Ayemere Joshua, commonly known by his stage name "Jossy Joe".[12][2] an in house music producer to Enorecords LLC.
