History

The 2006 renewal was run at a distance of 1 116 miles. Otherwise, the race is run at a distance of about 1 18 miles – the exact distance depends on the placement of the temporary rail.[1][3]

Mystery Giver won the race three times, in 2002 through 2004.[4] Yukon Gold won three runnings in 1993 through 1995 when the race was known as the Fair Grounds Budweiser Breeders' Cup Handicap.[5] The race earned Grade III status in 2006.[1]
