Festival of Veles

The Festival of Veles is celebrated by followers of the Slavic Native Faith at 11th[1] or 24th[2] February and is devoted to the god Veles. During a festival the prayers for looking after farm animals and health are carried to it with accompanion of milk sacrifices.[3] The important part of festival is feast, which is taking place near a sacred place, e.g. a temple. During a feast, eating veal meat is strictly forbidden. The main dish that is eaten during the festival time is richly flavoured by fat groat.[4] Ritual fights are often accompaning the celebrations.[3]
