Frouke Oonk

Frouke Oonk (born 22 September 1976 in Nederweert) is a Dutch former long track speed skater, who was active between 1994 and 2007.[1] Oonk was a sprinter, specialized in the 500 metres and 1000 metres.

Oonk represented her nation at international competitions. Oonk competed at the 1995 and 1996 World Junior Speed Skating Championships. As an elite speed speed skater she participated at five World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships (1998, 1999, 2001, 2004 and 2005) and four times at the World Sprint Speed Skating Championships for Women (2000 (22nd), 2001 (31st), 2004 (14th) and 2005 (14th)).[2] She also competed at other international competitions, including at ISU Speed Skating World Cups.[2]

Between 1995 and 2006 she had 40 starts at national championships. She never became national champion, but won a total of 5 silver and 3 bronze medals.[2]

On 12 September 2007, she announced that she had stopped skating due to mononucleosis and a persistent thigh injury.[3]

Her partner is Canadian speed skater Chris Witty.[4]
