Geni Thakor
Geniben Nagajibhai Thakor (koli)[1] is an Indian politician[2] and member of the legislative assembly of Gujarat legislative assembly from Vav.[3][4] She contested 2017 Gujarat legislative assembly election from Indian National Congress and won against Shankar Chaudhary of Bharatiya Janata Party.[3]
Political career
Thakor had contested 2017 Gujarat legislative assembly election from Vav constituency and won with margin of 6655 votes.[5] Thakor is considered as close-aid of Alpesh Thakor by media sources.[6][7][8] As of 2019, she is member of legislative assembly.
Views
In 2019, Geni Thakor supported the decision of Koli[9] Thakor community to ban use of mobile phones for unmarried girls of community.[10][11][12] Thakor said that nothing was wrong in move to ban mobile for girls and "they should stay away from community and spend more time in studying".[13] Previously, in 2018, she provoked people to burn the rape accused instead of handing them to police.[14][15][16] Later, she clarified that she was trying 'to calm down women'.[14]
