George Tornquist
George Tornquist (1801–1876) was a businessman, diplomat and importer of American origin.[1] He carried out his commercial activities in Argentina and Uruguay, where he also served as Consul of Hamburg and Bremen in Montevideo.[2]

Biography
He was born in Baltimore, the son of George Tornquist, born in Hamburg, and Ann Margaret Elkins, from a Baltimore family. Established in the Río de la Plata, George Tornquist opened two bank branches in Buenos Aires and Montevideo.[3]
He was married to Rosa Juliuana Inés Camusso, daughter of Carlos Antonio Camusso, born in Cádiz, and Francisca Inés Alsina, born in Buenos Aires. He and his wife had several children, including the businessman Ernesto Tornquist Camusso.[4]
