Gerd Inger De Groot

Gerd Inger De Groot-Ericson (born 8 February 1945) is a Norwegian former long track speed skater, who was active between 1960 and 1968.[1][2] She was a member of the speed skating club Aktiv SK in Oslo and part of the Norwegian national team.[3] De Groot was specialized in the short distances and set several club records and Norwegian records in the 500 metres and 1000 metres.[1]

After finishing 4th at the Norwegian Junior national championships in 1961 and winning the silver medal in 1962, she became Junior national champion in 1963 winning all the distances. Between 1964 and 1968 she competed at the 5 Norwegian Allround Championships. In 1964 she won the silver medal behind Sigrid Sundby and in 1965 she won the bronze medal behind Sigrid Sundby and Kari Kåring.[2]

De Groot competed at the International Dynamo Cup in 1966. She also participated at other international competitions in Finland, Sweden and Norway. She won several international matches.[1][2]

She married and lives in Askim where she has been a journalist at Smaalenenes Avis for years. She has lived in Sweden and coached the Swedish women's national team. She is, as of 2015, still a member of ASK's Liga Team.[1] In October 2015 she was part of the reunion of women who were part of the national team in the 1960s.[3]
