Therefore, all Twenty20 matches played between Germany women and another international ICC member side after 1 July 2018 will be a full WT20I.[5] On 26 June 2019, in the opening fixture of the 2019 ICC Women's Qualifier Europe tournament, Germany played their first ever WT20I match.[6]

Tournament history

The German Women’s team took part in the 7th European Women’s T20 tournament held at Herning Cricket Club from 4–7 August 2016. The team competed against Italy, France, Belgium, Norway and hosts Denmark. Germany finished at second place in the tournament.[7]

In the 2019 ICC Women's Qualifier Europe, Germany finished in third place.

In December 2020, the ICC announced the qualification pathway for the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup.[8] Germany were named in the 2021 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier regional group, alongside five other teams.[9]
