History

Jonathan Silvan, CEO, Jefrey Pollock, President and Jeffrey Plaut, Partner, started GSG together in 1995 as a boutique polling firm,[1] conducting market research for political and corporate clients. In 2008, the firm's annual revenues were about $20 million, and it had 50 employees.[2] In addition to New York City, Global has offices in Washington, DC; Hartford, Connecticut; Seattle; Denver; and Chicago.[3] The firm was mentioned in popular culture, including on the TV show The West Wing.[4] In 2018 GSG created the Navigator Project, which produces monthly research targeted at helping progressive campaigns.[5] The company also produces an annual Report on Business and Politics.[6]

Campaigns

GSG provides public relations and other campaign support, such as polling, for electoral candidates.[7] Clients of GSG in New York State have included New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, who used the firm in his 2006 gubernatorial campaign, New York state Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, and New York Governor David A. Paterson. GSG represents the New York state Democratic Party along with some New York state members of Congress, and US senator Kirsten Gillibrand.[8] Political clients outside of New York have included Iowa Governor Chet Culver,[9] Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer,[8] and presidential candidate Al Gore.[10] GSG also served as the pollster to Congressman and House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joseph Crowley, who lost the 2018 Democratic primary election for New York's 14th Congressional District by 15 points to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez despite a previous GSG poll showing Crowley up by 35 points[11][12]

GSG has also worked for organizations Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, ESPN, Google,[13] Condé Nast,[14] Airbnb, Microsoft,[13] Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC),[15] United Way, and Yale University.[16][17]
