Gobi was opened officially after installing cashmere and camel wool processing machineries and completed its adjustments in 1981.[1] Since it started operating, Gobi became one of the five biggest vertically integrated manufacturers that are specialized in cashmere, camel wool and yak down products in the world.[2] By the time of operating almost 30 years as a government owned company Gobi started a fresh chapter in July 2007. Its government owned stocks were sold and started manufacturing under private owners.
Since the privatization company turnover increased 10 times in 10 years(2018). As of 2019, Gobi corporation has around 3,000 employees.
Gobi has official six branch stores located in Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Erlian, and also has 62 franchise stores in globally.
The company's name refers to the Gobi Desert, a unique natural landscape that is the habitat of rare animals and plants. It is also the main area where the majority of raw cashmere is sourced from.

The Largest Cashmere Store In the World
Gobi Corporation own the title of "The World's Largest Cashmere Store" with 2,500sqm cashmere shopping store in Galleria Ulaanbaatar Mall located in next to Mongolian Parliament Building Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Statistics
Gobi Corporation sold 12,000pcs of 100% cashmere cardigan in 60 minutes, 800pcs of 100% reverse coat in 17 minutes, 4,000pcs of cashmere knit shawl in 18 minutes on Hyundai Home Shopping in Korean market.
The world cashmere industry
Mongolia supplies 9,600 tons of raw cashmere per year to the world. 15% of the total raw cashmere supplied by Mongolia are being used to manufacture finished goods whereas the remaining 85% are being exported in semi processed form. 70% of the total raw material used to produce finished garments in Mongolia are being procured by Gobi Corporation with the remaining 30% being used by other producers in Mongolia.
The global fashion luxury cashmere clothing market is expected to reach US$4.2 billion in 2025, growing at an annual growth rate of 3.86% per year between 2018 and 2025.
History
Gobi was opened officially after installing cashmere and camel wool processing machinery and completed its adjustments in 1981.
Within UNIDO project implementation action cashmere and camel wool processing experimental factory was opened. For 3 months, 78 engineers were being trained in Japan to learn how to process cashmere and camel wool, to operate factory machinery.
State owned Gobi Company was privatized to "FCI" LLC in July 2007.
Chief executive officer
Mr. Baatarsaikhan is the founder and Chairman of the Board of Tavan Bogd Trade LLC and has served as the President of the Group since 1995. He is the visionary leader behind the company and has initiated nearly all of the company's core businesses.
Previously, he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Gobi JSC in 2008, and was instrumental in turning the former state-owned cashmere company into the largest cashmere manufacturer in Mongolia.
Mr. Baatarsaikhan has also served as a member of Khan Bank's Board of Directors in 2009 where he played a key role in forming Khan Bank's risk policies.
He has also served as the vice president of MIAT Mongolian Airlines between 2001 and 2003.
He received his bachelor's degree in Engineering, Faculty of Electro-communications, University of Electro-communications, Tokyo, Japan. He is native in Mongolian, fluent in Japanese, and has a good command of English and Russian languages.
Factory
Gobi Corporation is appropriately considered to be one of the largest vertically integrated cashmere factories in the world.
Gobi factory lines deliver over a 1.1 million meters of cashmere woven material, 162,000 pieces of tailored sewn products, and 1.5 million knitted products per a year. Gobi Cashmere supplies both domestically and globally, providing the most exquisite and luxurious experience in cashmere.

In Berlin, Germany Gobi 1st branch store opened on November 1, 2016. 2nd branch will open on October 1, 2019 in the Mall of Berlin.
In Tokyo, Japan Gobi branch store opened on December 16, 2016.
In Erlian, China branch store opened on January 13, 2017.
Gobi Corporation, the largest Mongolian cashmere manufacturer is to open its brand new online store "Gobi Cashmere USA" in Los Angeles, California in September 2019. CEO of the company Ts.Baatarsaikhan commented on their upcoming online store "The Gobi company produces cashmere garments with the highest quality, taking advantage of the valuable raw materials of the traditional Mongolia livestock industry. We believe that the Third Neighbor Trade Act will contribute to the growth of bilateral trade and cooperation. The new store of the Gobi will allow its users in the USA to feel the wonders of the Mongolian cashmere."
