Gold Fame Citrus is a 2015 speculative fiction novel by Claire Vaye Watkins.[1] It is her second book, but her first novel.[2] The work received positive reviews.[3][4]

Plot
The novel concerns a future California damaged by drought.[1]
Characters
Luz Dunn
Luz Dunn is a 25 year old former model squatting in Los Angeles. At birth, Luz was symbolically adopted by the Bureau of Conservation, who used "Baby Dunn" as propaganda tool to garner public support for water infrastructure expansion efforts and evacuations.[1]
Ray
Ray is Luz's boyfriend.
Ig
Ig is a neglected toddler, around age two, that Luz and Ray kidnap.
Setting
The novel is set in a near-future dystopian California ravaged by extreme drought. The landscape of the Southwest is increasingly dominated by the rapidly expanding, ever shifting sands known as the Amargosa Dune Sea.[1] The novel opens in a mostly abandoned Los Angeles, where it has not rained for years.
