One of the aims of this alliance is to defeat the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the Sindh province, which is considered a stronghold of the PPP. The alliance includes the Pakistan Muslim League (Functional), a party which emerged as the runner up to the PPP in the 2013 provincial elections in interior Sindh and garnered 12% of the vote in the province by itself. The alliance has been seen as a major challenger to the PPP in the 2018 elections.[2]
