Hamid Touran

Sheikh Hamid Touran (Turkish: Şeyh Hamit Turan) (Persian: شیخ حمید توران) was prayer leader of mosque Zainabiyya in Istanbul and one of founder of Zainabiyya Group (the oldest Shiite group in Turkey).[1]

Biography

Hamid Touran has study seminary courses in the Tabriz (Iran) and Najaf (Iraq).

Activities

He was a co-founder of the group Zainabiyya oldest Shiite groups in Turkey.

Imprisonment

He was sent to prison under the previous government of Turkey.[4]

Death

Hamid Touran was in coma state for 525 days under intensive care of Mehmet Akif's hospital and died on February 10, 2017.[5]

Reactions

Following his death, the Iranian Ambassador in Turkey,[6] the Islamic Coalition Party,[7] Hossein Ansarian,[8] Deputy of International World Assembly of Ahl al-Bayt[9] were issued Messages of condolence.
