Hanif Pehalwan

Hanif Pehalwan, son of Ahmad Raja Khan, was born in Mahend village, district Ghazipur (Uttar Pradesh) in the late eighteenth century. He joined the Calcutta Police Department in the British period. He won the Bengal Wrestling Championship in 1918, and remained champion until 1940. He was friends with "The Great Gama". He died in 1942. His son Samiullah Khan Pehalwan got the pehalwan title on behalf of his father.
