Playing career
Fitzwilliams began playing football at the youth level with St Clair Coaching School in his native Trinidad.[1][2] He also played at the college level with the University of New Haven.[3] In 2002, he went abroad to Canada to sign with the Mississauga Olympians of the Canadian Professional Soccer League. He scored his first goal for the club on September 18, 2002 against St. Catharines Wolves, where in the match he further contributed with a hat trick with the game resulting in a 4-0 victory for the Olympians.[4] Within five matches he would score six goals, and helped Mississauga finish second in the Western Conference, and clinch a playoff berth.
In 2003, he signed with Metro Lions, and scored his first goal for the organization on July 11, 2003 in a 1-0 victory over London City.[5][6] The following season he finished as the club's top goalscorer with nine goals, and helped his team reach the postseason by finishing second in the Western Conference.[7][8] Fitzwilliams would sign with league giants Toronto Croatia in 2005.[9] He finished as the club's top scorer with 8 goals, and finished second in the Eastern Conference.
In 2007, he assisted in the club's playoff run by scoring goals in all three playoff matches which led to a championship title.[10] His next championship run with the club was in 2011, where Toronto finished second in the overall standings. In the finals Fitzwilliams scored the lone goal which clinched his second CSL Championship in a 1-0 victory over Capital City F.C.[11]
In 2012, he added more silverware to his portfolio by claiming the double with Toronto Croatia, by winning the First Division title, and his third CSL Championship.[12] In 2015, he won his fourth championship after defeating SC Waterloo by a score of 1-0.[13] The following season after the departure of Toronto Croatia from the CSL he signed with the York Region Shooters.[14]

Fitzwilliams made his national team debut on March 26, 2003 in a CONCACAF Gold Cup Qualifier match against Antigua and Barbuda. He would appear in the 2006 World Cup Qualifiers, and in total he appeared in five matches for his country.[15][16]
