The next season Basel joined the second Swiss championship which was played as a knockout competition. Basel played against local rivals Old Boys. The game ended with a 1–1 draw and so it required a replay. This was played a month later and also drawn 2–2. Because Old Boys complained that one of the two FC Basel goals had been scored by the player's hand they protested. The Swiss Football Association had to deal with the matter. Subsequently, the protest was approved and the game was awarded forfeit. This was the first forfeit decision in Swiss football history. The disputed goal was simply deducted from the result and thus Old Boys proceeded to the finals. Schneider played in both games.[1]

Basel did not compete in the championship the following season, Schneider played in 12 of the team's 16 test games. The Serie A 1900–01 season was played as a two group league competition. The West group had four teams, the East group contained six teams including Basel. Schneider played in five of the team's ten domestic league games and scored his only league goal in the hone match against Fire Flies Zürich which was drawn 1–1 on 28 October 1900.[2] After that season Schneider ended his active football.

Between the years 1896 and 1901 Schneider played a total of 44 games for Basel scoring a total of 10 goals. Seven of these games were in the Swiss Serie A and 37 were friendly games. He scored one goal in the domestic league and the other nine were scored during the test games.[3]
