Herwig Maehler

Herwig Maehler (born 29 April 1935) is a German historian and papyrologist, who specializes in classics and ancient history.

Life

He completed his PhD at the University of Hamburg in 1961.[1]

In 1975, he completed his Habilitation in classics from the Free University of Berlin.[1]

Career

He has worked as a curator of Greek papyri at Egyptian Museum of Berlin. He is the Emeritus Professor of Papyrology at the University College London.[2]

Awards

He is a fellow of the British Academy.[3]
