"I Pretend" is a song written by Barry Mason and Les Reed.[2] Des O'Connor's recording of this track became a number-one hit in the UK Singles Chart in July 1968,[3] and a number-one hit in Ireland the same month. His version was released in the United States on Diamond Records; however, it failed to chart.
