Arts program

In September 2007, Iona began its first year of the Regional Arts Program (RAP) for grade nine students, allowing them to take either Dance, Drama, Art, or Music for both semesters as their major. In December 2007, Iona hosted their first Arts night as an arts school in their cafetorium (cafeteria/ auditorium). They continued this tradition twice a year, once for Christmas and once for spring. In December 2008 Iona transferred their Arts Night from the cafetorium to the RBC theater in Mississauga Living Arts Center. Due to the popular demand, they transferred to a bigger theater, Hammerson Hall, which is also in Mississauga Living Arts Center.

Athletics

The very first OFSSA championship was won in Iona soccer history by the varsity girls soccer team, in Hamilton during the 2012 summer. The varsity girls qualified for seven consecutive provincial championships after winning the ROPSSAA "AAA" division.

In 2009 the Iona swim team travelled to OFSAA (Ontario Secondary Schools) Swimming Championships held at The Etobicoke Olympium (Toronto) and won their first OFSAA individual championship across any sport in the 100 meter backstroke while setting a regional record (103.99- Patrick Gajos). The first OFSAA medal in any sport being won in swimming, also in the 100m backstroke, by Katie Sax in 2001 (bronze).[1][2]

The girls soccer team came in third at OFSAA in June 2010.
