Iqbal Memorial Institute

Iqbal Memorial Institute (IMI) is a school in Srinagar,[1][2] Jammu and Kashmir, India, [3] that educates children from Kindergarten to Upper Secondary (Year 12) level. The school is oriented to Islamic principles and is named after Allama Iqbal, a Kashmiri poet who inspired the Pakistan Movement. It was founded in 1981.[4][5]

Location

The school is located in the Bemina city of district Srinagar. Male and female students are educated in separate premises. The girls' wing is on the Budgam road, opposite Government Degree College/Abdul Azad Memorial college, Bemina; the boys' wing is about 500 metres away at Sir Syed Abad Bemina, opposite Bemina Housing Colony.

Education

Most children are admitted to the school at Upper Kindergarten level, usually aged 4 or 5. A broad range of subjects is offered. The school is oriented to Islam, so students are taught to read and write Arabic, recite the Quran and to understand religious history.
