James Walker (sportsman)

James George Walker (9 October 1859 – 24 March 1923) was a Scottish rugby football player and cricket player.[1][2][3] He was the brother of Archibald Walker who was also capped for Scotland.[1]

Walker was born in Tradeston, Glasgow. He was educated at Loretto School and Trinity College, Oxford, where he matriculated in 1879, and graduated B.A. in 1883.[4] He played first-class cricket for Oxford University and Middlesex, and represented the Scotland national cricket team.[2] At rugby, was capped twice for Scotland between 1882-83.[1][3] He also played for West of Scotland FC.[1]

After graduating at Oxford, Walker studied law and was called to the bar at the Inner Temple in 1886.[4] He died in Nether Auchendrane, near Ayr, Scotland.
