Jean M. Wilkowski

Jean Marie Wilkowski (August 28, 1919 Rhinelander, Wisconsin - July 27, 2016) was the first woman to serve as an American Ambassador to an African country (Zambia)[1] from 1972 until 1976.[2]

Having been with Foreign Service since 1945, she served as the US Coordinator of preparations for the United Nations Conference on Science and Technology for Development since 1977.[3]
