Jennifer E. Smith

Jennifer Elizabeth Smith (born 1980)[1] is an American author of young adult novels.

Biography

Smith was born in Lake Forest, Illinois. She graduated from Colgate University in 2003 with an English degree,[2] and she also holds a master's degree in creative writing from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.[3] She began working for a literary agent in New York City. Her first novel, The Comeback Season, was published by Simon & Schuster in 2008. Both this book and Smith's second book sold poorly, and she wrote The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight after having taken a break from writing. When it was published in 2011, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight became her first commercial success, being optioned as a movie (with Dustin Lance Black assigned as the director) and translated into 28 languages. She continued to work as an editor at Random House while also working on her own writing until 2015. Her 2017 novel, Windfall, has also been optioned as a movie, with Lauren Graham intending to produce the adaptation.[2]
