Jhalod

It is belived that town was formed by bhil king named zhala vassiya. Tomb stone of bhil king is still presnet at maniben school entrance. Before establishment of santrampur state king of santrampur lived in zalod but due to some clash with bhils they moved to santrampur. It was one of the original "five mahals" of the Panchmahal District within Bombay Province during the British Raj in India. scindia of gwalior give this area to Britisher during colonial time and it comes under control of british raj. The town has a small military fort built by the Marathas and it's remnant still found in outskirt of city.

The taluka was made up by joining the territories of Sanjeli State and Jhalod Mahal together . Bhil people believes that Jhalod name comes from the name zalai mata temple which is believed as town goddess of zalod.

As of the 2011 India census, Jhalod had a population of 28,720. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. The average literacy rate was 61%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy was 67%, and female literacy was 54%. In Jhalod, 16% of the population was under 6 years of age.

The Gujarat State Department Bus Depot is located in Jhalod. There is no railway in the town, with the nearest railways station being at Dahod.

Main crops gorow in this ares are maize, chick pea, soyaben. Garlic and some vegetables are major case crops in area. People have bullocks as power source in agriculture. Cows and buffalos are kept in semi intensive type of system and sale of milk is act as source of income. Goats are vary predominant in villages, goats are small banks for people in villages. Some desi poultry and kadaknath also people use for their consumption and sale.
