These include printmaking, botanical and avian illustration, Zen Buddhist ink painting, calligraphy, and abstract composition.[1] Julian is an artist whose oeuvre is informed by Zen aesthetics.[2] She creates calligraphic ink strokes and splashes in a very energetic yet thoughtful manner. The artist has traveled extensively, most significant are her visits to Japan where she observed and absorbed the techniques of Zen masters.[3] In her drawings of koi and birds in particular one can sense this influence and reverence for that aesthetic.
