Joaquín Ramos Marcos

Joaquín Ramos Marcos (born 23 March 1946 Salamanca, Spain) was a Spanish international football referee[1] and radio commentator.

Career

He officiated 6 international matches and was member of FIFA in 1986–1992. He attributed 2 EURO qualifying (1988, 1992) matches[2] and others were in friendly matches.

In club football he officiated some UEFA competition matches such as Champions League (1), UEFA Cup (5).[3] He refereed 151 La Liga matches in 1980-93 and 6 Copa del Rey matches in 1987–91. He also officiated two Copa del Rey final 1987 and 1988.

Personal life

He was a radio commentator in Cadena Ser and Canal Plus, while he was still a referee.[4] He was sanctioned by the Refereeing Committee during his last year of referee career in 1992, when commenting on a match for the regional television Telemadrid.[5] Ramos Marcos wrote two books about his career called Memorias de un árbitro and La Ley del fútbol.[6]

Awards

In 1989 and 1990 he was awarded Guruceta Trophy that is Referee of the Year in Spain.
