Johan Hansma

Johan Hansma (born Marknesse, 11 June 1969) is a former central defender and professional footballer of FC Zwolle and SC Heerenveen.[1]

Early life

In childhood, Hansma was a long-term player for SVM Marknesse in his hometown.

Career

Hansma made his debut with PEC Zwolle on 20 August 1988 in the game with Veendam. He played for PEC Zwolle during their bankruptcy and change to FC Zwolle for six seasons before moving to SC Heerenveen halfway through the 1993/94 season.[2] He subsequently played ten seasons for Heerenveen during which Hansma won the 'Silver Shoe' in 1999 in the rankings of 'Footballer of the Year' behind winner Michael Mols. They finished Eredivisie runners up and subsequently Hansma played in the 2000–01 UEFA Champions League. In the 03–04 season, after many injuries, Hansma put an end to his career. During that season, he had played only one game. In the 2004–05 season, Hansma played a number of games for Flevo Boys.

Later career

Hansma became technical manager at SC Heerenveen from the 2010-2011 football season, until October 2013 when he was fired. Before that, he held the position of commercial manager. Players such as Alfred Finnbogason and Mark Uth were brought to Friesland by him, as was trainer Marco van Basten. The youth academy also flourished with boys like Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, Hakim Ziyech and Daley Sinkgraven.
