John Kourakos

John Kourakos is an American businessman.

Early life

Kourakos was born in Manhattan, and raised in the Bronx. His mother was a school aide and his father owned a shoe-repair shop. He started at Rockland Community College, and transferred to the University at Albany in 1969, graduating with a B.S. in Business in 1971.

Career

he first worked at Van Heusen as an assistant merchandising manager. He later moved to Salant and Salant as a merchandising manager.

In 1980 he became vice president of sales for Ralph Lauren womenswear. In 1984 was appointed executive VP of merchandising for Calvin Klein menswear. A few years later, from 1987 to 1994 he was president of the underwear, sportswear, and jeans divisions of Calvin Klein Industries. In 1994 he became president of Calvin Klein's Men's and Women's Underwear and Calvin Klein Men's Accessories.[1]

At Tommy Hilfiger Corporation, he was vice president of their Tommy Jeans division from 1996 to 2001.[1]
