Jorge Monteiro Coroado

Jorge Emanuel Monteiro Coroado (born 23 March 1956 Lisbon, Portugal) was a Portuguese international football referee.[1] He is also banker, sport journalist and television commentator.

Career

He officiated 9 international matches and was member of FIFA in 1991-2001. He attributed three EURO qualifying matches (1996 and 2000) and five World Cup qualifying matches (19994, 1998 and 2002)[2] and others were in friendly matches. He gave totally 5 red cards in international matches such as one in WC 1994 qualing match Luxembourg-Iceland (1:1) to iceland player Þorvaldur Örlygsson,[3] one in EURO 1996 qualifying match Malta-Czech Republik (0:0) to maltese Joe Galea and two in EURO 1996 qualifying Slovakia-Poland (4:1) to polishes Roman Kosecki and Piotr Świerczewski.[4] He also attributed a match in EURO 1994 U21.

In club football he officiated some UEFA competition matches such as Champions League and qualification (2+4), UEFA Cup (17) and Intertoto Cup (3). [5] He refereed 203 Primeira Liga matches, 2 Taça de Portugal matches in 1987-2001.

Personal life

After finishing referee career, he worked in the Portuguese Football Federation. He was also the vice-president of Belenenses in the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons. In 2013 Jorge Coroado PS candidate for Oeiras mega-parish (second municipal) candidacy, which he has been a militant since 2008.[6]
