History

Josefin Asplund grew up in the suburbs of Stockholm, Sweden, with her Polish mother, Swedish father and older sister. When Josefin was 7 years old her parents got divorced, and she mainly lived with her mother and step family from that point on. [4]

Josefin started acting at the local theater close to her home at the age of 6, where she played various characters in different musicals until her teenage years. She has said that from time to time during her childhood the stage was the only place that truly felt like home. [5]

Later on she got accepted at Sodra Latins Gymnasium (Southern Latin secondary school), studying acting, from where she graduated in 2010. Shortly after, she got cast in David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, starring opposite Daniel Craig. She plays one of the lead roles in the film adaption (2015) of the best selling Swedish novel The Circle and is internationally mostly known for playing Astrid in History Channel's Vikings.
