Early life

Manson was born in the Chicago suburb of Hinsdale, Illinois, where his father had played for the Chicago Blackhawks. Manson was born days after his father was traded to the Edmonton Oilers, prior to the start of the 1991–92 NHL season. As a result of his father's career, Manson grew up in various cities in both the United States and Canada before his family settled in Christopher Lake, Saskatchewan, following his father's retirement.

Manson's brother Ben is a defenceman for the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL).

Playing career

Manson played three seasons of NCAA Division I hockey with Northeastern University, where in his junior year his outstanding play was rewarded when he was selected as Hockey East's best defensive defenseman and was named to the 2013–14 Hockey East Second All-Star Team.[1]

On March 25, 2014, forgoing his final year of collegiate eligibility, Manson signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL).[2] On October 4, 2017, he signed a four-year contract extension with the Ducks.[3]
