Journal of Jewish Social Studies

The Journal of Jewish Social Studies (Abbreviated: Jew. Soc. Stud;[1] JSS[2][3]) is a quarterly U.S. based journal.[4][5]

It was founded in 1939, by the Conference on Jewish Relations, later known as the Conference on Jewish Social Studies.[6][7][8] Its editor was leading American philosopher: Morris Raphael Cohen.[9] It defined itself in 1941 as: Jewish social studies: a quarterly journal devoted to contemporary and historical aspects of Jewish life.[10] In the early 1970s, Arthur Hertzberg was editor, his motto was "we are universalists and particularists", caring for all men and caring for Jews.[11]

The journal is currently published by Indiana University Press.[12][13][14]
