Juan Gardeazábal
Juan "Juanito" Gardeazábal Garay (27 November 1923 Bilbao, Spain - 21 December 1969)[1] was a Spanish international football referee.[2][3]
Career
He officiated 19 international matches and was member of FIFA in 1953–1969. He attributed seven World Cup matches[4] 1958 (2), 1962 (3) and 1966 (2), two matches in World Cup qualification 1966 (1) and 1970 (1), two matches in EURO qualifying 1960 (1) and 1968 (1)[5] and others were in friendly matches. He is the youngest referee who officiated a World Cup match (1958, he was 24).

In club football he officiated some UEFA competition matches such as Champions League (6), UEFA Cup (4) and Cup Winners' Cup (3).[6] He refereed 233 La Liga matches in 1952-69. He also officiated 1967 Intercontinental Cup 1st leg that played between Celtic-Racing Club 1:0.
After his death
After his death, a street was named after him in his home city, Bilbao.[7]
