Club career
Born in Sacramento, California, Chavez began his career as part of the Sacramento Republic youth academy before signing a USL Academy contract with the club's first team on March 6, 2020.[1] Chavez then made his professional debut for the club on August 9 in a USL Championship match against Portland Timbers 2. He came on as a 83rd minute substitute for Sam Werner as Sacramento Republic won 1–0.[2] In the Republic's September 2, 2020 away game versus the Portland Timbers 2, Chavez subbed into the game in the 82nd minute. Chavez went on to score his first professional goal in the 96th minute of stoppage time, giving the Republic a 2-1 victory.[3]
