Early life and education

Fisher earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an Master of Public Policy from Princeton University.[1][2]

Career

Fisher is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Counselor. She currently serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Europe and the European Union in the State Department's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs. She also served on special assignment as Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the U.S. Embassy in Russia. She was the Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Mission to NATO; the Chief of Staff to the State Department's Deputy Secretary for Management and Resources; and the Director of the State Department Operations Center. Earlier assignments include service as Deputy Director of the Private Office of the Secretary General of NATO where she covered North American affairs, the Baltic states, Operations policies and issues related to defense and deterrence posture.[2] Prior to that she served as Counselor for Political and Economic Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia.[1]

On April 20, 2020, President Trump announced his intent to nominate Fisher to serve as the United States Ambassador to Belarus. On May 4, 2020, her nomination was sent to the Senate.[3] Fisher's nomination was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 15, 2020[4] and sworn in on December 23, 2020.

Personal life

She speaks Russian, French, and Georgian.[1]
