Julius Gregory (footballer)

Julius Gregory (4 July 1881 – 20 July 1916) was an English professional footballer who played in the Football League for Bury and Manchester City as a full back.[1]

Personal life

Gregory attended Manchester Grammar School.[4] In late 1914, a matter of months after the outbreak of the First World War, he enlisted in as a private in the Royal Fusiliers and was killed during an attack on High Wood during the Battle of the Somme on 20 July 1916.[3][5] He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.[2]
