Kanawut Traipipattanapong

Kanawut Traipipattanapong (Thai: คณาวุฒิ ไตรพิพัฒนพงษ์; also known as Gulf (Thai: กลัฟ); born 4 December 1997) is a Thai actor and model. He is well known for his role as "Type" in TharnType The series.

Early life and education

Kanawut was born on 4 December 1997 in King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand. Kanawut received his early education in Burapha School and went on to complete high school in Suankularb Wittayalai School, an all-boys high school. He graduated with his bachelor's degree in Industrial Education and Technology at King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi(KMUTT).

Career

In late 2019, it was announced[1] that Kanawut would star as "Type" - the main protagonist of GMM One's and LINE TV's TharnType: The Series.[2][3] The series immediately gained popularity within Thailand as well as internationally.[4] The series would soar to the number one spot of worldwide for ep 11 and 12 Twitter trends.[5]

Such popularity in the series and the main casted couple, has resulted fans in referring to both actors as "MewGulf - a combined fandom name of their Thai nicknames, Mew and Gulf, respectively.

Kanawut and fellow actor, Suppasit Jongcheveevat won "Best Kiss Scene" at the LINE TV Awards 2020.[6][7] Suppasit and Kanawut have also appeared in the February issue of Harper's Bazaar Thailand, the first BL couple to do so in the history of the magazine.[8][9] Due to the immense outpour of fans trying to read the article, Harper's Bazaar Thailand's website crashed.[10]

With the immense positive response[11] to TharnType, a second season was announced[12] and auditions would start in early 2020, with production in mid-2020.[13][14][15] Due to the global pandemic of novel COVID-19, production was postponed to ensure the safety of the actors and crew [16]

Both Suppasit and Kanawut made a guest appearance in the 2020 BL series "Why R U?" as Tharn and Type, respectively.

On May 18, 2020, Kanawut was verified on Twitter.[17]

With Kanawut's popularity growing, his fan club along with Suppasit's fans, have bought rights to name stars after them.[18]

August 2020 he joined a Project led by GMM Grammy record Label called Boy / Friends along with 9 other young artists. Their first Solo Press Conference was held on 29 September.[19]

Gulf Kanawut is also known to be the first ever male model to appear on the Cover of L'Officiel Thailand Magazine.

He also made an international debut with Pitnapat Designs at the Aspara Fashion Week 2020 where he appeared as the Showstopper of the "New Normal" collection.

Gulf Kanawut also appeared on the cover of OK! Magazine Thailand August Issue and is being featured in Hommes Thailand Hardcover Fall issue collectors edition.

24 August 2020 Gulf Kanawut won Rising Star and Best Young Actor awards at KAZZ Awards, also shared Best Scene Award with Mew Suppasit for their Break-up scene in TharnType The Series . On 20 October 2020, Kanawut won Best Couple with on-screen pair, Suppasit, in Maya Awards [20]

Kanawut released his first single in the GMM Boyfriends project "Missing Baby", with colleague War Wanarat on October 27, 2020.

On November 6, 2020, "TharnType 2: Seven Years of Love" starring Kanawut as Type, premiered on LINE TV.
