Koronavilkku

Koronavilkku (Swedish: Coronablinkern) is a COVID-19 app, a digital contact tracing mobile app, developed by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare.[1] The free app became available for download on Google Play and App Store on August 31, 2020 and was download one million times in the first day.[2] On November 5, 2020, the app had been downloaded more than 2.5 million times.[3]

The app is designed so that it does not tell the user from whom and where the infection was obtained. In a case of possible infection the users will get a code that is entered into the application. Then the app notifies those who have been nearby that they may also be infected. The app do not collect any personal information, neither location or people the user have been into contact with. The regular changed and randomly generated codes guarantees that the app of its user cannot be directly identified from the codes.[4][5]
