Synopsis

The plot revolves around a precious young little girl called Bukky who loves to assist her father enthusiastically to solve arithmetic and logic easily get into the nerves of her mother.[6]

Production

It was revealed that the production of the film was initially supposed to begin by 2017 but had been stalled at numerous occasions due to financial issues and lack of cohesion from initial production team.[7] Blessing Amidu attempted to find a suitable production team from Disneyland but her attempt was largely unsuccessful due to increase in budget cost.[8] A film project titled SADE which was originally taunted to be the first Nigerian animated film was eventually shelved in 2018 due to financial tussles.[9]

In May of 2018, Blessing Amidu contacted one of Nigeria's foremost frontline animators;[10] Stanlee Ohikhuare who had also created an animated movie titled LIFESPAN,[11] to produce the movie. By August of 2018, a one-year contract was signed for his services, and he came on board. However, there was no story to work with so, Stanlee Ohikhuare came up with a story around the existing characters namely Lady Buckit, Slipperhead, Pantylegs, and Cupsticks. He created additional characters as he developed the story, including Bukky, Mopps, Dustee, Mr. Edwin, Tam, Robo and his gang, and Bukky's parents; Mr & Mrs Udume Bozimo. On the 22nd of November 2018, Stanlee Ohikhuare secured a distribution deal for the movie with Genesis Deluxe Cinemas, for a possible December 2019 release. Stanlee Ohikhuare then went ahead to commence the earliest stages of pre-production for the movie after writing the screenplay. In the development of the screenplay, he engaged three young writers as collaborators namely; Chioma Paul-Dike,[12] Julie Ako[13] and Pamela Agboga. Stanlee also commenced Auditions, Casting, Voice recording and Music Production between December 2018 and March 2019. With the prompting of the Executive Producer who still longed for a 2019 release, Stanlee engaged a Lagos-based 2d animation studio to get the job done on February 1st, 2019. He also opted to help with directing the movie in order to ensure a near-perfect delivery. Unfortunately, that process was not completed - leading to the recommendation of Adebisi Adetayo and his studio. Stanlee's contract as producer elapsed in August of 2019, and he opted out of a renewal for several reasons, including other pending projects. Adebisi Adetayo's studio eventually completed the movie successfully.

The film finally began its principal photography in November 2019 under Blessing's own production house Hot Ticket Productions.[7]Around 30 cast and crew members were roped in for the film shooting.[3] 11 year old Jessica Edwards, 13 year old David Edwards and array of 8 lead Cast and 6 supporting Cast who were part of those auditioned and cast by Stanlee Ohikhuare[14] were also roped in as dubbing artists/voice actors to lend voice. The film's story remained in the backdrop of Oloibiri as originally conceived by Stanlee Ohikhuare. However the film underwent further delays and derailment due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria and the resulting lockdowns in Lagos.[7] The portions of the film's were mostly shot in Lagos amid regular power cuts. The film was shot as 3D animation with 4K resolution, at 24 frames per second for each cinematic effect.[8] The film budget was estimated around ₦400 million.[15]

Soundtrack

A collection of 14 track original album and individual tracks were composed by Oluchi Odii, Patrick Edwards, Marilyn Mayaki, Ufuoma Iliaro, Casey Edema, Caleb Audu, DJ Klem and Ava Momoh.[4]
