Lameni Jayamahalena

King Vijayabahu v aka Sawulu Vijayabahu (1336-1345 Kurunegala kingdom) had two sons, Buwanekabahu IV (1345-1353, Gampola) and Parakremebahu V (1345-1353,Dedigama and 1353-1359 Gampola). The daughter of The king Parakremabahu V and her husband Jayamahalana had a child named Lameni Jayamahalana.

Lameni Jayamahalana married Princess Sunethradevi and their son was prince Parakremabahu. Prince Lameni Jayamnahana died (which is suspected as a murder by poisoning by the opponents) when the prince Parakremabahu at childhood. The princess Sunethradevi then did a hard work in feeding, protecting and bringing up the two fatherless princes to young age, hiding from the opponents. Rev Vidagama Maithree Thero gave a great support to the princess throughout the growth of the two princes. Weera Alakeshwara was the last king of the kingdom of Gampola and died in 1408. Thereafter Rev. Vidagama Maithree Thero were the ruler of Sri Lanka for a short period.

During the Last Alakeshwara's period the prince was in a big threat of living and he was hiding in the country called Ambulugala with the help of Thero. Finally (After the death of last king of Gampola) Rev. Vidagama Maithree Thero, having a discussion of the noble of Sri Lanka the prince was crowned as Parakramabahu VI of Kotte. He was one of the greatest kings and his rule marked a golden era in the history of Sri Lanka.
