Laura Wasser

Laura Allison Wasser (born c.1968, Los Angeles)[1][2] is an American attorney specializing in divorce.[3] She is the managing partner at the Family Law firm Wasser Cooperman & Mandles,[4] and the Founder and CEO of the online divorce service, It's Over Easy. Wasser also hosts the iHeart podcast "All's Fair With Laura Wasser" and "Divorce Sucks! With Laura Wasser" on PodcastOne. TMZ called her the "disso queen".[5][6][7][8][9]

Early life and education

Wasser was born in Los Angeles. She attended The American School in Switzerland in 1985. She graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1986. She has a B.A. degree in Rhetoric from University of California, Berkeley, and she earned a J.D. degree from Loyola Law School in 1994.[10][11][2] She has been a member of the California Bar since December 1994.[12]

Wasser is a divorce attorney in Los Angeles.[13] She is the managing partner at the Family Law firm Wasser Cooperman & Mandles and the founder of the online divorce service It's Over Easy,.[14][15]

Wasser has been selected to Super Lawyers every year since 2007.[16] She has been featured on The Hollywood Reporter’s Power Lawyer Troubleshooters.[17]

Wasser has handled a number of high-profile, high-net-worth dissolutions, including those for Angelina Jolie,[18] Heidi Klum,[19] Kim Kardashian,[20] Ryan Reynolds,[21] Christina Aguilera,[22] Hilary Duff,[21] Stevie Wonder,[21] Kelis,[23] Patricia Arquette,[8] Kate Walsh,[24] Johnny Knoxville,[9] Jimmy Iovine[25] Maria Shriver,[26] Olivier Martinez,[27][28][29] Kelly Clarkson,[30] and Dr. Dre.[31]

With her father, lawyer Dennis Wasser, she served as an on-set legal consultant for the movie Liar Liar.[21] She and her father also appeared in the 2014 documentary Divorce Corp.[21] She has been called upon on TV, in print and across the media landscape in matters regarding Divorce and Family Law.[32][33]

Her book It Doesn't Have to Be That Way: How to Divorce Without Destroying Your Family or Bankrupting Yourself[34][35] was published in 2013 by St. Martin's Press.[36] In 2020, her e-book "What to Expect When Getting Divorced" was published on social media and on the web on the It's Over Easy online divorce website.[37]

Honors and awards

In June 2008, Wasser received the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law Zephyr M. Ramsey Award [38] and in 2011, she was the recipient of the Century City Chamber of Commerce Women of Achievement Award.[39] In 2013, Wasser received the Brady Center Advocate Award.[40] In May 2019, she received the Justice Award from the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice for her acknowledgment of the struggles faced by the self-represented and for her work in promoting civility in Family Law.[41]

Personal life

Wasser has two sons[42] with two former boyfriends whom she did not marry.[43][44] In 1993, she divorced another man she was briefly married to[45][44] and she has not married again since.[43][44] She resides in Los Angeles.[46]
