Lauren's Kids

Lauren's Kids is a non-profit organization founded by Florida state senator and sex-abuse survivor Lauren Book.[1] Founded in 2007[2], the organization educates adults and children about sexual abuse prevention and has programs to help survivors with their trauma.[3] Every April, Lauren's Kids uses National Sexual Assault Awareness Month and National Child Abuse Prevention Month to hold fundraisers and programs that heighten awareness. They've held a 1500-mile "Walk in My Shoes" trip across Florida[4] and had a "Walk in My Shoes" display at the Capital in Washington D.C. They created an EMMY-Award winning PSA with CBS Cares[5] as well.[6] They provide approximately 10 million educational and awareness materials statewide through direct mail each year.[7]

They received the 2019 Change Maker Award from the Child Mind Institute (CMI).[8]
