Leticia Remauro

Remauro was born Leticia Maria Nastasi in Bay Ridge Hospital Brooklyn. She resided in Bay Ridge and Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York before moving to Margate, Florida in 1975. Remauro returned to New York City in 1980 and attended the College of Staten Island. She opened her first business, Audition's Supper Club in Pleasant Plains, Staten Island at age 21. She served as Staten Island Coordinator for Mayor Dinkins' "Increase the Peace Corps".

Remauro serves as secretary of the Bayview Community Council, doing business as Staten Island Downtown Alliance, a local development corporation with a mission of attracting and retaining small business in the Downtown Staten Island area.[2] She also serves as Secretary for the Newark Liberty International Airport Community Roundtable, an organization that works with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to provide an outlet for communities surrounding the area to comment on issues related to the operation of the airport. These include noise, construction, jobs and performance. Prior to joining the above mentioned organizations, Remauro was a long time member of Staten Island Community Board 1,[3] a New York City government agency consisting of 50 volunteer members appointed by the Borough President and members of the New York City Council. Remauro served as Chair of SI CB1 from 2009 through 2015.[4] Prior to becoming Chair, Remauro served as 2nd Vice Chair, Rules Chair, Transportation Chair and Parliamentarian. During her service tenure, SI CB1 voted to approve the New York Wheel and Empire Outlets adjacent to the St. George Ferry Terminal[5] and created a plan for the North Shore Waterfront Greenway Trail.[6]

Leticia Remauro served as Vice President for Community Relations for the Battery Park City Authority, a New York State Public Benefit Corporation tasked with developing 92 acres of land created using fill from the World Trade Center site which was located directly across the street in Lower Manhattan. Remauro assisted in the development of "Green Residential Building Design Guidelines" under which America's first "green" residential highrise The Solaire, was constructed. Remauro created the media campaign that helped the Battery Park City neighborhood recover from the fear and trepidation associated with the 9/11 attacks. Remauro was responsible for the upkeep of the New York City Police Memorial and all of the art installations in Battery Park City. She continues to serve as a member of the steering committee for the "Irish Hunger Memorial" [7] designed by artist Brian Tolle and opened to the public in 2002.[8]

From 1999 to 2002, Remauro served as Chairman of the Richmond County Republican Committee during which time she guided the party to many victories including delivering the votes that elected Michael Bloomberg as Mayor of New York City. Remauro also served as Executive Director of New York State Victory 2000,[9] a political organization created by the New York Republican State Committee to oversee the 2000 Presidential election in New York State. Remauro was the Republican Candidate for New York State Assembly 60th District in 1994, running against then incumbent Assemblymember Eric Vitaliano.[10] She also ran as an Alternate Delegate to Republican National Convention in 2000.[11]

Remauro came under fire when she compared COVID-19 safety regulations to the policies of Hitler. In a selfie video she posted to social media during the protest, she lambasted Sheriffs' deputies and claimed to be there to, "stand up for our rights, the right to pay taxes to pay the salaries of these good men and women, who yes, are only doing their job, but not for nothing, sometimes you got to say 'Heil Hitler,' not a good idea to send me here, we're not going to do it." Remauro explained that instead of shouting, "Heil Hitler," she should have said, "Mein Fuhrer."[1]

Remauro is the author of Patric's Saga and I'm Not Fat, I'm Just Big Boned and Other Lies We Tell Ourselves.[12][13]

Remauro is the President & CEO of The Von Agency, Public Relations, Inc. based out of Staten Island, which provides publicity and social media for Representative Nicole Malliotakis and controversial flag painter Scott Lobaido. In 2016, Remauro was named one of Staten Island's 50 most influential residents (excluding elected officials) by City & State magazine.[14]
