Lismore House Hotel
The Lismore House Hotel is an historic hotel located in Lismore, Ireland. Built in 1797 by the Duke of Devonshire, it is Ireland’s oldest purpose built hotel.[1][2]
History
Formerly known as the Devonshire Arms Hotel,[3] the hotel has been featured in travel guides since at least the 19th Century.[4] A guide from 1871 advises to dine or lunch at the hotel travelling on the road from Youghal, allowing three shillings for the purpose.[5]
