List of Samuel L. Jackson performances

Samuel L. Jackson is an American actor, director and film producer. As of 2009, the collective total of all box-office receipts for films that Jackson has appeared in is the highest of any on-screen actor. As of December 2015, Jackson has appeared in over one hundred films with a cumulative worldwide box-office gross of approximately $8.6 billion to date. Jackson's breakthrough role was Gator, a crack addict, in the Spike Lee-directed Jungle Fever (1991), for which Jackson won a special jury prize for best supporting actor at the Cannes Film Festival.[1]

Later, Jackson was cast in starring roles in Amos & Andrew (1993), Pulp Fiction (1994), The Great White Hype (1996), A Time to Kill (1996) and The Negotiator (1998).[2] In 1999, Jackson started playing the recurring character Mace Windu in both the Star Wars prequel trilogy[3] and in the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars[4] In 2000, he had the lead in the remake of Shaft,[5] and subsequently starred in S.W.A.T.,[6] Coach Carter,[7] Snakes on a Plane[8] and Lakeview Terrace, among other films. Jackson went on to play Marvel Comics character Nick Fury in the films Iron Man (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011), Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), The Avengers (2012), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Captain Marvel (2019), of his nine-film commitment as the character for Marvel Studios. Despite his nine-film contract having ended, Jackson confirmed he will portray the character in future installments, evidenced by his appearances in the 2019 films Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

For his role in Pulp Fiction, Jackson won a British Academy of Film and Television Arts award for Best Supporting Actor[9] and was nominated for an Academy Award[10] and a Golden Globe Award. In 1994, he was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a miniseries for Against the Wall.[11] Jackson also received Golden Globe nominations in 1996 for A Time to Kill and in 1997 for Jackie Brown.[12][13]
