Lokesh Kumar Meena

Lokesh Kumar Meena is an Indian marathoner and ultra-marathoner. He represented India at 2018 IAU Trail World Championships held in Spain.[2] In 2018, he won the Grant-Pierce Indoor Marathon and set an Asian record for Men's marathon indoors.[3] Lokesh set a new Fastest Known Time (F.K.T.) with a timing of 05 hours : 30 minutes :50 seconds for Catoctin National Recreational Trail a 26.6 mi (42.4 km) hiking trail that traverses federal, state, and municipal woodlands along the northern half of Catoctin Mountain in Frederick County in central Maryland, USA. The hilly terrain is typical of western Maryland with large sections canopied under dense forest cover. [4]

Running career

Meena did not run competitively until he was about 26–27 years old in 2014.[1]

On 24 June 2018, Meena won the 8th Grant-Pierce Indoor Marathon which a time of 3 hours 13 minutes 19 seconds. The time was a record for an Asian runner in indoor men's marathon according to Association of Road Racing Statisticians.[3][1][5]

Personal life

Outside of running, Meena works at the Embassy of India, Washington DC as an attaché diplomat. He is married to Nirma and they have three daughters.[1] He is a regular in the running clubs in the DC area.[6][7]
