Longshore Sailing School
Longshore Sailing School is a public club in Westport, Connecticut that teaches sailing and rents watercraft. It is "among the oldest and most renowned sailing programs in the country" and has earned "the country's most prestigious sail training awards".[1]
Longshore was founded in 1960, by the Town of Westport Recreation Commission. In 1975. it changed to private operation .[2][3] Longshore is located at the Longshore Club Park in Westport. It also operates Greenwich Community Sailing in association with the Old Greenwich Yacht Club in Greenwich, Connecticut .[4][5]
Longshore provides sailing courses for children from ages 8 through 16.[5] It also offers Adult programs in sailing. The school's staff includes US Sailing Association certified instructors, Instructor Trainers and USCG licensed Masters.[5]
Longshore also has Connecticut licensing courses including personal watercraft and towing endorsement[4]
Longshore rents sailboats, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards to the public.
