Ludwig Schick

Ludwig Schick (born September 22, 1949) is a prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as auxiliary bishop of Fulda from 1998 till 2002, when he became archbishop of Bamberg.

Life

Born in Marburg, Schick was ordained to the priesthood on June 15, 1975, serving in Fulda.

On May 20, 1998, he was appointed auxiliary bishop of Fulda and titular bishop of Auzia. Schick received his episcopal consecration on the following July 12 from Johannes Dyba, archbishop (personal title) of Fulda, with the auxiliary bishop of Fulda, Johannes Kapp, and the bishop of San Marcos, Alvaro Leonel Ramazzini Imeri, serving as co-consecrators.

On June 28, 2002, he was appointed archbishop of Bamberg.

As a bishop he was principal consecrator of bishop Gregor Maria Franz Hanke, and principal co-consecrator of Walter Cardinal Brandmüller.
