MOVE IT

MOVE IT is an annual four-day dance event at Olympia, London.

History

MOVE IT was first held in London in 2005, the creation of Georgina Harper, who as of 2011 was still the Creative Director of MOVE IT.[1] The show was initially put on by Jonathan Scott/Value Added Events Ltd. In 2007, the show was bought by Upper Street Events. It is now managed by Daniel Holmes and Shirry Liram.

Program and Features

The creative program is managed by Georgina Harper and includes 100 performances, 260 dance classes, 26 masterclasses, a freestyle stage, dance competitions, castings, auditions, dance celebrities, and fashion shows.

  • MOVE IT has a dedicated Trade Day with over 700 trade buyers. The exhibitors are UK, European and international dance retailers, and womenswear and sportswear retailers.
  • The freestyle stage allows anyone attending to demonstrate their dancing skills in front of the public.
  • Get On Stage is an online dance competition which was launched in 2009. The 2010 judges included Strictly Come Dancing Professional Erin Boag and choreographer Matthew Bourne.
  • The main stage holds performances by dance companies, dance schools and professionals. Past performers include: Flawless, Nicole and Matthew Cuttler.
  • Auditions are held every year for professional dancers. Past and present auditions include: Disneyland Resort Paris, Cirque du Soleil, and Rudeye.

Awards

MOVE IT won an Association of Event Organisers (AEO) Excellence Award for best Best Consumer Show under 2000 square metres for the 2009 event.
